How long have you been in UX/Product Design?
I’ve been a UX/Product Designer for 12 years, since 2013. Before that, I was an Interactive Designer for agencies, and a print designer.
How did you get into UX design?
When I started 12 years ago, no one knew what UX design was. Many agencies and employers were searching for designers, having just realized they needed help in creating the architecture of their products. I was able to transition from web and interactive design into UX design by invitation from a company — and haven’t looked back.
Do you do contracting or private work?
My focus has been in Enterprise software solutions almost exclusively, although I sometimes have accepted commissions on a contract basis, if the project seems interesting enough.
What else do you enjoy doing?
I’ve organized dances as well as large-scale floats for the Portsmouth Halloween Parade, and I do charity work. I am passionate about apples — especially heirloom apples! Be careful if you ask me about this, because you may regret my Ted Talk.
